GENERAL INFORMATION:
- Arrive Early Check-in opens at 8:30AM
- Participants must be at least 16 years of age by June 1st, 2023.
- Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at the tryout for the entire duration of the event.
- Applicant must successfully complete a tryout course to be considered for admission to the OC Lifeguard Training Academy. The tryout consists of a 500M Swim followed by a 400M run, then another 500M swim and a final 400M run. The first 500M swim must be completed in 10 minutes or less, and the entire course must be completed in 25 minutes or less.
- Use of fins is prohibited. A swim cap will be provided; you may wear your own swim cap underneath the provided swim cap if you wish.
- The use of wetsuits will only be permitted if the water temperature is 59 degrees Fahrenheit or below. The water temperature will be measured on the morning of the event. Please show up prepared to swim without a wetsuit if the water temperature does not fall below the wetsuit threshold. I triathlon suit falls under the category of wetsuit and will be prohibited if the water temperature is 60 degrees or above.
- Cadet Application must be completed before tryout.
- Tryout Waiver must be printed and signed and brought to check-in.
Candidates that successfully complete the tryout swim will be invited to a brief interview with OC Lifeguard command staff at Lifeguard Headquarters. The interviews will take place from 11:AM-2:00PM. Interview time-slots will be assigned based off of tryout placement
